All the Best of Japanese Culture

My friend Selim came to visit from Korea. I took him to the 100 yen store, where he bought a rubber mallet. "Oh!" he said, "I've been looking for one of these." I thought it was best not to ask any questions. Here he is enjoying his mallet:

You can find anything at the 100 yen store. Truly.

Hey Katie!

That mallet would be a good birthday or Christmas present for me! I could use it with my jewelry making. Is it rubber or plastic??

Love,
mom

It's rubber. Selim later confessed that he needs it to put together Ikea furniture. We also thought it might be good for cracking walnuts...

Oh, wow! I was scrolling through your archives and saw Selim! He worked here in Baku until this past summer.

Yeah, Selim's a trooper.
