Eventually, Eventually...

Out with some friends, and Sara and I are talking about running. "Katie, we should do a race together. I was thinking maybe the GW Classic... Oh, wait," a tilt of the head. "You won't be here."

I very nearly dropped my drink. "Sorry? Could you say that again?"

"What? The GW Classic?"

"No, the other part. Where will I be?"

"You won't be here. You'll be in Jordan."

I'll be in Jordan. What an amazing thought.

Hi Katie,
I just wanted to thank you for your blog. As a prospective FSO, I've thoroughly enjoyed your stories and sense of humor. Your entries provide a more visceral perspective into working in the foreign service, which is sorely lacking in the State-sponsored sites. So, thank you!! And keep up the good word with Arabic-

No problem, Mark. And I very much enjoyed your photos -- good luck on your trip.

Lee, your word for today is dragée.

leb'es is probably moreimportant. Arn't you a beacon for FSO wantabees. Maybe I should start a blog of negativity - like my current TDY in a really crappy border post

Interesting feeling, isn't it? Before I left for Korea, people kept saying "Oh, we should go do X soon!" and I'd have to say things like "Can't. I'll be in Korea." There's definitely something surreal in that.
